Project title: HARIA: human-robot sensorimotor augmentation - wearable sensorimotor interfaces and supernumerary robotic limbs for humans with upper-limb disabilities
About the project: The EU-funded HARIA project will pave the way with a new technology that connects the human sensorimotor system with the system of actuators and sensors of a robot. This allows reciprocal awareness, trust and understanding. HARIA will redefine the nature of physical human-robot interaction with technology consisting of AI-powered wearable and grounded supernumerary robotic limbs, as well as wearable sensorimotor interfaces. Augmentation methods will enable users to directly control and feel the extra limbs exploiting the redundancy of the human sensorimotor system through wearable interfaces. HARIA will address people with uni- or bi-lateral upper-limb chronic motor disabilities, improving quality of life..
