MoRe-Lab: Movement & Reality Lab

MoRe-Lab is a technical infrastructure within the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University. It is designed to support the development of the novel field of experimental health sciences. Experimental health sciences develop, evaluate and apply novel methods and innovative solutions to optimize functioning in everyday life and expand knowledge of human health and behavior across the life span. Studies use new ideas and methods in standardized or real environments such as housing, pedestrian, sport/exercise, workplace, hospital, residential care and home care settings.

At present, MoRe-Lab is at the Spark, Medicon Village, with a housing mock-up and movement platform, and it will be complemented with additional equipment once permanently established at Forum Medicum. Experimental health sciences utilize technical platforms to study the complex dynamics between physical functioning, behavior, cognition, emotion, and different environmental contexts. Studies include evaluation of technologies, for example, gait trainers, assistive devices, motion sensors, e-health applications, lighting, and activity trackers to improve human functioning in a diversity of environments.

MoRe-Lab promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among traditional health sciences disciplines and any other disciplines studying aspects relevant for health (e.g., bio-medical, clinical, and pre-clinical medicine; social sciences; humanities; engineering disciplines). MoRe-Lab is available for internal and external users.

Manager of the MoRe-Lab: Steven Schmidt

The MultiHelix Think Tank, launched in 2016 and being politically independent, is organized for the interdisciplinary creation of new ideas supporting our mission to facilitate solutions for present and future challenges within Life Sciences and related sectors like ICT and Cleantech. This group comprises more than 50 highly professional member organisations, including more than 150 professionals from academies, industry, healthcare, patient organisations, and voluntary associations — a true MultiHelix formation. More than 30 Think Tanks on different topics have been delivered. The format includes presentations from invited experts followed by discussions and networking to give members what we call mind expansion on a specific theme selected by the members. The members will use the outcome of the Think Tanks in their daily work to strengthen Life Sciences regionally, nationally, and internationally.
